Here are some “Cannots” adapted from F.E. Marsh’s 1000 Bible Study Outlines<\/span>1<\/sup>. They are from readings numbered 84-86.<\/p>\n

THINGS the sinner cannot do<\/span>.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Cannot reverse what God does<\/span>. “I cannot go beyond the Word of the Lord” (Numbers 22:18<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  2. Cannot find God by Himself<\/span>. “I cannot perceive Him” (Job 23:8-9<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  3. Cannot supply what is lacking<\/span>. “What is crooked cannot be made straight” (Ecclesiastes 1:15<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  4. Cannot please God<\/span> (Romans 8:8<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  5. Cannot see<\/span> or enter the Kingdom of God<\/span> (John 3:3<\/a>, 5<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  6. Cannot be where Christ is<\/span>. “Whither I go ye cannot
    \ncome” (    John 8:21-22<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  7. Cannot pass the gulf<\/span> which divides the saved from the
    \nunsaved in the next life (    Luke 16:26<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    “Cannots” in John’s Gospel<\/span>.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. The natural man “cannot see<\/span>” or “enter the Kingdom of
      \nGod<\/span>” (      John 3:3<\/a>, 5<\/a>).<\/li>\n
    2. The sinner “cannot come<\/span>” or “go<\/span>” where Christ is, as
      \nlong as he is unsaved (      John 7:34<\/a>, 36<\/a>; 8:21-22<\/a>).<\/li>\n
    3. The unregenerate “cannot hear<\/span>” Christ’s Word (John 8:43<\/a>).<\/li>\n
    4. The “Scripture cannot be broke<\/span>n” (John 10:35<\/a>).<\/li>\n
    5. The world “cannot receive<\/span>” the Holy Spirit (John 14:17<\/a>).<\/li>\n
    6. The believer “cannot bear fruit<\/span>” of himself (John 15:4<\/a>).<\/li>\n
    7. Conditions often limit Christ’s revelation to us, so He has
      \nsaid, “Ye cannot bear them now<\/span>” (      John 16:12<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Some Things God Cannot Do<\/span>.<\/p>\n

      1. He cannot break His Word<\/span>. “Scripture cannot be
        \nbroken” (        John 10:35<\/a>).<\/li>\n
      2. “God cannot lie<\/span>” (Titus 1:2<\/a>).<\/li>\n
      3. “God cannot deny Himself<\/span>” (2 Timothy 2:13<\/a>).<\/li>\n
      4. “God cannot be tempted of evil<\/span>” (James 1:13<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
